Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was a sweet time in the life of Renewal as we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus with Summit Church downtown in Falls Park!  The city graciously allowed us to rent the Shakespeare Stage at Falls Park and over 750 people heard the gospel through song, the preaching of God's Word, and interaction with the body of Christ.  Our hearts were joyful as we watched Summit Church and Renewal Church come together to load-in equipment and interact with those who just wanted a Sunday walk in the park. :)  We are blessed to have churches in our city that we love and partner with to make disciples of every man, woman, and child in Greenville.  Please pray that the seeds that were planted on Sunday take root on fertile hearts and bloom into faith in Jesus.

After the service we spread out our quilts for a picnic lunch with a few other families from Renewal.  With bellies full of ham and potato salad, we hid Easter eggs for the kids to find and enjoyed the beautiful day.
The pace on Sundays for a pastor's family is pretty brisk so we saved our Easter fun for Sunday after naptime.  The kids got Easter baskets and we dug into some Resurrection Cake - I loved this idea I stole from a blog.  You bake a cake in a square pan and save some batter for a bowl.  When done, turn the bowl cake over on the square cake and dig out a "tomb".  Cover the opening with a round cookie and on Easter Sunday, roll the cookie-stone away! :)  The kids loved the illustration and loved eating the cake.
